Biography
Growing up on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma, Rachel learned to juggle farm chores, school and sports. She was introduced to the the world of sports at age 4. By 12, she competed at level 8 gymnastics, then decided to give it up to play soccer. Her passion for soccer continued through high school, college at Oral Roberts University, and eventually to Austria where she played professionally. She loved the competition of soccer, working together as a team to reach a common goal, and pushing her body physically. As a freshman at this NCAA Division 1 school, however, she did not see much game time with soccer at first. Taking this as a challenge instead of defeat, she began to see the results of her efforts with more playing time. By senior year, she was nominated captain because of how much she had improved, her high work rate, positive attitude, and most importantly for her integrity. To Rachel, leading the team meant more than sacrificing time. It meant becoming a servant and leading by example.
While at Oral Roberts University, Rachel earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science, concentration in Physical Therapy. Even as a student-athlete, she made the President’s honor role every semester for her excellent grades, and volunteered more than 200 hours with multiple community service projects and outreaches. She graduated a semester early with high honors and Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, Rachel spent some time volunteering in Sierra Leone. In the midst of some of the most unbelievable poverty known to Africa, she saw some of the richest joy and hope. She found that all it took to find a smile was kicking a soccer ball or offering a high-five.
In May of 2014, Rachel moved to Vienna, Austria to pursue a once in a lifetime career playing professional soccer. She played on the best Women’s team in Austria called NOSV Neulengbach Frauen. They competed in the Bundesliga, as well as the Women’s Champion’s League. While in Austria, Rachel was part of an outreach team that volunteered at local refugee camps. She led soccer clinics and other fun, active games for families from the Middle East. It was so rewarding to spend time with the children week after week, bringing fun, joy and a familiar face to a seemingly hopeless situation. With these experiences, Rachel developed a new passion for people and gained a new perspective on the beauty of individuality.
Rachel decided to pursue her original field of study and become a personal trainer when she returned from Europe. She is ISSA certified and came to Redding, California. Currently, she is a student at Bethel, and working here at Balance Point Fitness & Exercise. Years of physical activity, sports, travel, and education have equipped Rachel to understand the human body as a whole and realize each person’s individuality. People are Rachel’s passion, and she is so excited to continue inspiring people to live healthier, happier lives.
